Design & Ergonomics
Both guns are left-handed shooters friendly because of their ambidextrous mag release. While the Walther P99 is available in paddle style, Walther PPQ is also available in the American-style button mag release. You can even notice that PPQ has more rounded edges on the rear side.
Although the Walther P99 has a slightly thinner grip, we prefer the aggressive texturing of PPQ. It has enough relief with the pattern that it doesn’t get slippery and feels exceptionally comfortable when shooting.

Trigger - Walther PPQ or P99?
The Walther P99 vs PPQ Walther trigger system is a matter of preference. If you are a fan of the long and heavy DA first shot, with subsequent SA pulls, go for Walther P99. With the 9 lbs DA trigger pull and 4.5 lbs SA, it might take a while before you get used to it.
But if you want the simplified trigger system with the same 4.5 lbs trigger pull every time, choose Walther PPQ. It has a quick reset and a crisp, light trigger as well.
Sights
Walther PPQ and Walther P99 come with the standard polymer white dot factory sights. Both of their rears are also adjustable for windage while the front sight is adjustable for the height.
However, we suggest that if you plan to use these guns for serious target shooting, it might be best to replace the sights. You won’t find a problem looking for third party suppliers, but it would incur additional costs.
